Red Stag

Fallow Buck

Fallow Buck

Known for its palmated antlers, striking colours and brawler temperament, the Fallow Buck is a glorious trophy. If you are an antler lover or love the thrill of a challenging hunt, the Fallow Buck is for you. Wily and cunning, with a reputation for disappearing before your very eyes. Combined with their duel-to-the-death attitude, they're sure to put up an incredible contest. An essential addition to any trophy collection, the Fallow Buck is an adrenaline-pumping hunt.

Wild Goats

Wild Goat

Plentiful in population, the wild goat is a perfect trophy for hunters of all skill levels. Introduced to New Zealand in the 1800s, the wild goats have made the mountains and hills their home. With a unique range of fur colours and horns on both males and females, we pride ourselves on our outstanding array of trophy goats roaming our block.

Elk

Elk

A true giant and breath-taking to behold, the Wapiti (Elk) is the largest-bodied deer species in New Zealand. Gifted by President Teddy Roosevelt, the Wapiti is a majestic trophy for any hunter, often ranging to record book territory. Offering a blood-pumping and sensational hunt with a spectacular reward, the Wapiti is a must for any hunter coming to New Zealand.

Hunting Period - Late March - Early August.

Thar

Tahr

Legendary by nature and a must-have alpine trophy for any hunter. With an impressive set of horns, a long flowing mane, and found exclusively in the rocky terrain of the majestic Southern Alps, it's no wonder the Thar is one of the most sought-after trophies in the world. Originating from its namesake Himalayas, the Thar has adapted perfectly to the New Zealand alpine climate.

With a strapping frame yet remarkably agile, the Thar offers a thrilling challenge for even the most seasoned hunters.

Chamois

Chamois

Strikingly nimble on their feet and particularly athletic, the Chamois offers a challenging and exciting hunt. Gifted to New Zealand for hunting by Austrian Emperor Franz Josef, the Chamois are reclusive, alert and have keen eyesight, putting even the most experienced hunter through their paces.

Found in limited locations around the world with prized deep dark pelts in the winter and soft tans in the summer, with horns on both the male and female, this is a must for keen trophy hunters.

Hunting Period - All Year Round

For prized winter pelts - April - July.

Rams

Arapawa Ram

Wild and hardy, the Arapawa Ram is a true survivalist. Originally introduced to the Marlborough region as a food source for the seafarers, sealers and whalers, they have since found a home in the craggy and steep hill country. Sporting beautiful, thick woolly coats and a distinctive curled horn, the Arapawa Ram makes an excellent addition to any trophy collection.

Surefooted, agile and living in rough, rugged terrain, this distinctive trophy is well worth the demanding pursuit.

Fair Chase Game Estate Hunts

Perfect for hunters of varying skill levels and fitness.

Our Fair Chase Game Estate Hunts run from 1 - 5 days, depending on how many trophies you are looking to take, and are ideal for hunters with a limited timeframe.

With epic trophies including Red Stags, Fallow Buck, Arapawa Ram, Wild Boar (with or without dogs) and Wild Goats, these pursuits are the perfect chance to bring along less experienced hunting buddies and capture spectacular video footage. Rifle, bow and muzzleloader options are available.

The Experience

Free Range Wilderness Hunts

Crafted for the intrepid and experienced hunter.

Our epic free-range hunts run from 5 - 7 days. Offering you an array of spectacular trophies, including Red Stags, Tahr, Fallow Buck, Chamios, Wapiti (Elk), Arapawa Ram, Wild Boar (with or without dogs) and Wild Goat, these are a must for any keen hunter. Catering for rifle, bows and muzzleloader hunters and these grand journeys require a high level of fitness and endurance, but the rewards are well worth it.

FAQ'S

The Clarence Valley experiences a microclimate of it's own, with temperatures ranging from 40°F upwards in the winter months to 70°F upwards in summer. Annual rainfall is approximately 1050ml and not restricted to any particular time of year.

If you are travelling to New Zealand, we recommend flying from Auckland International Airport (North Island) to Marlborough Airport (South Island). With approximately 1 hour of additional travel time to our estate. We offer all guests airport pick-up and transfers directly to the lodge, making your transport to and from the hunt seamless and straightforward.

You can choose to bring your own firearm(s) if you wish, however Clarence Valley can provide quality firearms and optics for you to use to remove any stress.

With temperatures prone to varying we recommend bringing both light and slightly warmer hunting gear. If Tahr and Chamois hunting - you will need warm clothing and alpine boots.

Generally, shots are inside 200 metres

We hunt on our own private land, so the only hunters will be you or members of your hunting party.

Clarence Valley will organise all your taxidermist requirements and export documents for you. This is an extra cost to the hunting trip.

We like to give you a taste of the kiwi cuisine, including traditional home cooked meals and will accommodate to your dietary requirements as well.
